Along the Santa Barbara Coast

Nothing too unique about this view, but sometimes it's nice to take the time to stare out into the ocean and watch the waves. This is just west of Santa Barbara, with the Channel Islands in the distance.

The Two Hillsides

These two are from the same photo-- of course one of them is converted to black and white. I'm not sure which one is better. In the color image, the little bit of red foliage in the lower right I think adds a nice touch. On the other hand, the black and white trims away all that pesky color and leaves only a flavor of classic drama... or something, I can't figure out what.

This is in South Pasadena. For those unfamiliar with the LA area, South Pasadena is a small city adjoining the northeast corner of LA. And as you can see, it seems to be covered in green.

California Farm Road

Near Tulare, California. I remember it was about 105 degrees there when I took the pic:

Visitors From Other Countries

Every once in a while my Sitemeter picks up a hit from another country-- most recently, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Greece, Italy, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, and pretty much all over. To those visiting from other countries, please be sure to leave a comment-- even if it's not in English. I'll find someone to translate it. It would be great to hear from everyone around the world!

UPDATE: Welcome Netherlands!

Digital Deception

Using a photo editor, a little fun with an earlier pic:

A detail of an old sketch:

Dawn or Dusk?

Could one tell the difference between the two from a photograph? This happens to be dusk, from the northeast corner of L.A., earlier this evening:
